Europe by train

Not the fastest way, but absolutely the most beautiful...

Stories from the road — by train through Europe.

Armed with a ridiculous number of cameras, a cartload of rolls of film, a notebook, and a probably way too heavy suitcase,

I am traveling through Europe by train.

The most important ingredient: craving. A whole lot of craving. And a (slightly unhealthy) portion of curiosity. ;)

My first achievement: I will soon be leaving Dunkirk for Sicily (honesty compels me to say that theoretically I am leaving from De Panne, but I will cover the first leg by bus. So that doesn't really count... :) ).
Along the way, I collect stories, encounters, images, impressions... In short: everything that happens between departure and arrival.

Day 7: From Rome to Siracusa

Today is the day. The real reason why I wanted to make this trip: I am taking the night train from Rome to Sicily and I am finally going to see how they put the train onto the ferry at the Strait of Messina. Day 6: From Milan to Rome

When I wake up, the grey cloudy sky has given way to a bright sun. Hooray. :) I went around the corner to grab a coffee and the bartender asked if I was from Albania. Uh… that’s pretty specific. Day 5: From Turin to Milan.

When I wake up, I suddenly realize that I am already halfway through my train journey. Phew… this probably sounds ironic to some, but time flies!
